Correspondence and a few papers, 1807-1881 (bulk 1830-1860), of New York clergymen Jacob Brodhead and his son, historian and attorney John Romeyn Brodhead. Papers of Jacob Brodhead principally consist of letters received from his brother-in-law, N[icholas] Bleeker, Jr., of Albany, concerning the sale, purchase, and rental of Brodhead's lands in Albany and upper New York State, as well as family and personal matters. Papers of Jacob's son, John Romeyn Brodhead, include ca. 115 items relating chiefly to his activities as historical agent appointed by the governor of New York State to locate and copy documents in Europe relevant to New York State history.
